Some Exciting Things Happened at JL&S This Tax Season

In February, one of our employees, Matt Falank, became certified as an enrolled agent. For those of you unfamiliar with this certification, an EA is a person who, according to the IRS has “earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the IRS, by passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns.” Basically, Matt has become a certified tax specialist and we are excited for him and for us to have him on staff!

In March, Brandon Sunderlin, and wife Kelly welcomed another boy, Owen David into the world! He joins brothers, Sean and Carter, and the family is doing great.

In April, long-time Esserman & Pelter partner and JL&S employee, Jerry Bignoli retired from public accounting after 41 years! We wish Jerry the best in his future endeavors.

In May, Greg Carpenter and his wife Maeve welcomed their first child, Ellie Rose. The family is doing wonderfully and we are so excited for the new additions to the JL&S family!

In June one of our newest employees, Brittany Richner married Joe Owens. Mr. and Mrs. Owens are settling in nicely to married life just over a month in. We wish them both the very best!

Also in June, we extended a permanent position on our JL&S team, to Brianna Ruehl. Brianna is a graduate of Binghamton University with a Masters in Accounting and was instrumental in our tax season success. She is currently visiting family in Hungary for the summer, but we are looking forward to welcoming her back starting in September!

Check back soon as we will be sending more frequent updates and news items going forward, but wanted to get you all caught up for now on all of the exciting happenings at JL&S.

See you soon!
